Ridiculous. We live in a ridiculous world peopled by Pete Biggs and Peter Maguire I think – in terms of what seems to sell…
I'm feeling kinda grumpy cos I found out we're clashing with bloody erol alkan in march. I found out cos it came up that that ben kid who's been supposed to be helping us out is going to that. There must be a way to specifically get to the people who don't want to pay loads of money to go see some electo-clash has been…..

names
names are funny things.
for example - the name of this blog comes from another song by they came from the stars i saw them...
...that came about tho because i couldn't work out what i wanted to call it. i really liked the idea of it having a name, that was partly why i chose this site.. but nothing came to mind. I thought that if i turned itunes onto random there was bound to be a line in whatever song came up that would make sense, and sure thing, it comes up trumps! :)
which is always nice, isn't it?
lots of people have lots of names. i guess names can be a way of differentiating between identities, playing characters, or being what you feel you always were.
About a month back I was talking to a hairdresser and he asked me whether i had a "Dj name, stage name, alter-ego, whatever", so I told him I was Dolly.
"Dolly... ooh you are Dolly. I can see that absolutly. The shoes, the way you are, I can see you as Dolly."
he was called "The Real Paul" tho, which doesn't make me feel that his grasp of what makes a good name is particually strong.
We spoke about the reasons why people have alternative names. He reckoned it's got bigger because of the rise of the internet. I reckon some people just feel the need to do it. But maybe not those that become known as "The Real Paul"!
bless. I liked him. not only cos of that obviously. cliched single gay-boy hairdresser clubbing type but, u know, there's certainly enough mileage in that for a haircut.

the hot inc
listening to the hot inc.. writing publicity...listening to the hot inc.. writing publicity.. listening to the hot inc... writing publicity...
it's a funny existence for sure.
last weekend i said to john i felt i was sucked in, living in it for that reason, but probably speaking nonsense. he said "no, that sounds like sense to me." and i guess it is.
i could tell a lot of other tales to go with this.. but for now i'll just say - it's a fucking brilliant song! have a listen...

new beginnings
Last year i had a blog on myspace... (http://www.myspace.com/djdolly). i'd have thought i'd have started earlier, i had websites and all sorts. But before i started blogging i used to always have note books and things that i wrote in (and still do) and i always seem to change to a new book when a time period is over. I know when that happens because i start to feel wrong writing there, and before i know it time has passed. I look at my life and something, it could be subtle, has changed in such a way that it doesn't make sense to carry that on anymore. That's what's happened now, so i'm starting something new.
so, i've no idea where this will go. probably musings on things that happen, thoughts, nonsense, a public sketch pad. i've also no idea how public i'll make it. we'll see. it is public tho, clearly, so don't be shy.
more later. x
